GSJ 2021 Season Overview

GSJ is excited as we get ready for another great club season. Club Volleyball continues to evolve and Grand Strand Juniors will evolve with it. For 2021 We will continue with our Coast United with an updated format. Coast United is an option for our highest level players. Coast United is designed to allow for players who want to play and show the talent and desire to play at the highest level to join players with the same desire.

With some kids moving to the Coast United program, it will allow new players to join our GSJ National teams.  The 2021 National team schedule will have an emphasis on learning to play against high level competition. The National teams schedule will extend through the Coastal Classic in June but will not have the amount of travel as past seasons. AAU Nationals will be an optional add on at the end of the season. GSJ will continue our Regional team level and a Development league. The Development league will offer training and offer some competition.

In short:
Coast United = Top players from ages 13-18
National Team = Just below the CU players, high competition level
Regional = Mid tier competitive teams
Development League = Players unable to travel, Less experienced, and new players

This season GSJ be using 2 practice locations for the Grand Strand area teams and a Florence location for those teams. Our locations are the GSJ Facility in Conway, the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, and First Baptist Church in Florence.

Coast United and all of our National will practice at our GSJ Facility in Conway unless we feel there is enough support to have a National team in Myrtle Beach or Florence. With our top teams attracting players from other areas, the Conway facility allows for the right atmosphere, equipment, and consistent training needed. Having players come from across a wide area allows for the strongest teams possible and the ability to compete at a high level.

Important: Regional and Development league teams can select either location or no preference and we will place them on the team that best suits the player.

GSJ has a proven track record and we hope you will choose to be a part of the GSJ Family this year. Many of our players are leading their school teams and more than 40 have gone on to play at the college level earning over $2 million in Athletic scholarships. Not all clubs are the same and you should make an informed decision about the investment in your child.

Forms will be reviewed by our board and granted based on the answers given and our knowledge of the situation and athlete requesting. Only a limited number of scholarship opportunities are available and will be granted to the most deserving. We require some financial contribution from the applicants to be determined on a case by case basis. All scholarship recipients are expected to work during the events GSJ host. We will have scholarship applications available prior to our informational meetings Oct. 8th and 9th.
